Ted Macdonald is Vice President of Advanced Technology at Symbotic. His focus is on new technology initiatives, and specifically on our next generation bot – the Avatar. Prior to this role, Ted served as the Vice President of Mobile Robotics Control and was responsible for all layers of control for Symbotic’s autonomous bots, which included task assignment, bot routing, embedded controls, storage system state and more. Since joining Symbotic in 2011, he has also served in a variety of engineering and leadership roles, focused primarily on robotic control. Prior to joining Symbotic, Ted was an application’s engineer for an automation components distributor. Ted has a master’s in electrical and computer engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a bachelor’s in electrical engineering from Penn State University.
