S.Catherine “Katy” Longley is the executive vice president and chief operating officer of The Jackson Laboratory, a position she has held since 2018. She first joined JAX in 2016 as the vice president and chief financial officer building upon a distinguished career in finance, government and law. In her current role, Longley provides strategic leadership, direction, and management of operations for the Laboratory. She oversees external and government affairs, facilities, finance, human resources, information technology, legal, security, strategic communications, and translational and business alliances. She chairs the organization’s retirement plan committee and serves as the institutional official for animal welfare. Before joining JAX, Longley served as the senior vice president of finance & administration and treasurer at Bowdoin College for 14 years. Prior to this, she served as commissioner of the Maine Department of Professional & Financial Regulation within the cabinet of former Governor Angus King, and practiced corporate and non-profit law at Verrill in Portland for over a decade. Longley currently serves as a director and chair of the audit committee at Camden National Bank, as a trustee of the Maine Maritime Academy, and is a past member of numerous profit and non-profit boards. A resident of Bar Harbor and Portland, Katy holds a B.A. degree from Bowdoin College and a J.D. cum laude from Suffolk University Law School.
