John Gorman, M.D., age 81, has been a director since 2000. Dr. Gorman, Clinical Professor of Pathology at New York University School of Medicine, retired from his position of Director of the Blood Bank at New York University Medical Center which he held from 1981 to 1999. Dr. Gorman also served as director of the Blood Bank at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. In the 1960's Dr. Gorman and his co-workers at Columbia developed Rh Immune Globulin (RhoGAM) for the prevention of Hemolytic Disease of the newborn for which for he was awarded the Lasker Clinical Medical Research Award in 1980.
