Andre Balta is vice president and chief technology officer for Cubic Global Defense (CGD), a business unit of Cubic Corporation. Balta supports the culture, process and strategic vision for engineers, designers and scientists across CGD. Balta is responsible for a myriad of disciplines across the organization including learning science and instructional design, game development, art production, courseware development, subject matter experts, technical production, hardware, software, systems and test engineering. His role is a critical conduit between hardware engineering, immersive development, learning science and business processes to create CGD's Performance-Based Training products. Balta is chartered to ensure all of Cubic's products and internal research and development (IRAD) efforts are the convergence of cutting-edge innovation and the science of training to support customer needs. During his tenure at Cubic, Balta has served in various technical leadership roles, including chief technical director and studio manager, where he was responsible for architecting product lines and fostering high-performance development cultures. Prior to joining Cubic, Balta held an engineering position at L-3 Link, developing flight simulators. Balta holds an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Central Florida and also a master's in enterprise engineering from University of California, San Diego.
